Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact in the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year by supporting students with hearing differences in a dynamic Alaskan educational environment. Serving a diverse caseload (currently 10 students from 1st to 12th grade), this contract opportunity is ideal for dedicated professionals passionate about Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) education. This is an onsite-only role, welcoming travel candidates who can be present on campus and engage directly with students and staff.
Key Qualifications:
Current Alaska teaching license for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or proof of pending licensure Type C certification (copies or license numbers required) Experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across multiple grade levels preferred Strong communication and collaboration skills Comfortable with a flexible full-time schedule (generally between 8 AM-4 PM) Open to traveling onsite, with reimbursement available for travel-related expenses
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction to students across various grade levels, adapting lessons for individual needs Collaborate with general educators, service providers, and families to ensure a supportive, inclusive environment Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students Offer resources and advocacy for students and families as needed Stay current with best practices and legal requirements in DHH education This is a fantastic role for professionals who thrive working in both elementary and secondary settings, appreciate the beauty of Alaska, and want to make a difference in students' educational journeys.
