Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available at a high school in Sterling, AK, for the 2026-2027 academic year. This role focuses on providing resource and push-in support to students requiring special education services. While candidates open to travel are welcomed, preference will be given to those seeking a long-term commitment in this location.
Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs within both general education classrooms (push-in) and resource settings. Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and create an inclusive learning environment. Monitor and document student progress and participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and support personnel to promote student success. Maintain compliance with federal and state special education regulations.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
Valid Special Education teaching certification. Experience working with high school-aged students in special education settings. Strong skills in collaboration, communication, and classroom management. Ability to implement differentiated instruction and accommodate various learning styles. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.
