Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Shape the beginning of the school year by providing essential support as a Special Education Teacher in a preschool setting. This full-time contract opportunity, located near Bessemer, AL, focuses on serving a self-contained classroom with nine students on your caseload. The position runs from 7:45am to 3:15pm, offering consistent hours each week (ranging from 37.5 to 40). This role is ideal for educators dedicated to making a lasting impact on young learners who benefit from individualized guidance and a nurturing classroom atmosphere.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification (applicable to preschool/early childhood) Experience or coursework in early childhood special education strongly preferred Proficiency in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Effective communication skills with both students and caregivers Strong organizational abilities and adaptability in a self-contained classroomKey Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction tailored to each student's needs Develop and monitor IEPs, tracking student progress and updating goals as required Foster an inclusive, supportive, and structured learning environment for preschool-aged children Collaborate closely with related service providers, teaching assistants, and families to optimize student growth Maintain accurate records and contribute to regular team meetings and communications This position starts in the 26/27 school year, and interviews will be held soon.
