To evaluate and assess educational and emotional needs of students and provide data for planning a program which will help them learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible members of society.Qualifications:
Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate with Psychometry Certification Minimum of three years successful teaching experience. Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457. Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance. Ability to use technology to communicate, to plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups, for the purpose of maximizing student achievement. Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team member.Performance Responsibilities:
Assess referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices Administer tests to and recommends placement of exceptional students Assist in the identification of exceptional students Provide data for the tracking system for special education Confer with teachers and parents/guardians Interpret the school psychological services to students, teachers, parents/guardians, and administrators Attend conferences on placement of individual students Keep informed regarding research in psychological and educational testing practices in the areas of test construction, test administration, and test results interpretation Serve as reading interventionist as needed. Perform any other duties as assigned.Terms of Employment:
Nine-month position in accordance with the Board's salary schedule.Evaluation:
Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance to Demopolis City Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
