Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of K-2nd grade students by providing impactful support as a Special Education Teacher in a resource setting. This full-time opportunity offers a rewarding, structured environment for educators who are committed to fostering growth and academic success for early learners with diverse needs.
Responsibilities include:
Deliver targeted instruction for K-2 students, focusing on individualized education plan (IEP) goals. Manage a caseload of approximately 20-26 students, tailoring strategies to address unique learning challenges and abilities. Primarily facilitate pull-out sessions, working with small groups or one-on-one outside their general education classrooms. Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff to effectively promote inclusion and student engagement. Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and regularly communicate updates with families and team members. Implement evidence-based teaching practices, adapting to the changing needs of students throughout the school year. Participate in IEP meetings and help develop measurable, achievable goals for each student. Demonstrate effective classroom management and a compassionate approach, creating a positive and structured learning atmosphere.
Preferred qualifications:
Valid credentials to teach Special Education or eligibility to obtain appropriate licensure. Previous experience supporting early elementary-aged students in a resource or special education setting. Strong organization skills and the ability to manage a moderate caseload. Collaborative mindset and excellent communication abilities.
