School Year Primary Function :
To provide direct and indirect services to students, families, and school personnel to promote and support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral successes. For Leonard Elementary, the Teacher Consultant will conduct academic assessment and support special education teachers only. Qualifications â€"
Education & Experience :
Successful completion of a teacher certification program at an accredited college or university, and valid state certification(s). A minimum of 5 years of teaching within the field of Special Education is preferred. Master's degree in education is preferred. Maintain or eligible for MDE full approval for Teacher Consultant. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Conduct assessments as part of the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) for initial and reevaluations based on state required timelines. Draft and facilitate initial IEPs. Serve as the evaluation coordinator for Section 504 and case manager for 504 plans. Serve as a member of the MTSS problem solving team and attend monthly meetings. Provide new teacher support by coordinating mentors, job and caseload responsibilities, and training in PowerSchool Special Education (PSSE). Confirm caseload assignments in PowerSchool Special Education (PSSE). Coordinate grade level move up meetings in the spring of each school year. Return up to ten days prior to teacher calendar to contact new enrollees each August to provide building tours, orientation, etc. Additional workdays will be compensated based on daily rate. Create an IEP meeting day schedule each August for the upcoming school year. Coordinate with other Teacher Consultants on in district transfers. Establish measurable program effectiveness goals and complete ongoing measurement and documentation of program effectiveness. Work with the Executive Director of Special Populations to ensure progress reports are completed and sent on time. Deliver consistent, accurate and timely communication and correspondence to stakeholders. Timely adherence to school policies and procedures. Keep current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory through coursework, in-service programs and by attending professional development activities. Participate in building and district level activities, staff meetings, professional development activities, program meetings and other educational planning meetings as required. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with stakeholders. Openly support and abide by all school policies and procedures. Maintain regular and predictable in-person attendance. Support the Oxford Community Schools vision and mission. Perform other duties as assigned. Reports to : Building Principal(s);
