Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting preschool learners as a Special Education Teacher near Pelham, AL. This full-time position focuses on a self-contained classroom, ensuring meaningful instruction and care for young students requiring specialized educational support. Work closely with a dedicated team and make a direct impact on the life and learning of each child in your care.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification Experience working with preschool-age children, preferably in a self-contained environment Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) Knowledge of early childhood intervention strategies and adaptable teaching methods Excellent communication skills for collaboration with families, aides, and related service providers Ability to create a nurturing and structured classroom environment
Role Responsibilities:
Teach and support a caseload of nine preschool-aged students with varying needs in a self-contained setting Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans Adapt curriculum to meet student needs and maximize learning outcomes Collaborate with support staff and paraprofessionals to deliver comprehensive services Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding progress, challenges, and strategies for home support Maintain accurate documentation on student progress and compliance with all legal and district policies This is a 37.5 to 40 hour week position, scheduled from 7:45 am to 3:15 pm, offering the chance to truly dedicate time and energy to a small, focused group of students.
