Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a real impact in the lives of students by providing specialized support as a Behavior Special Education Teacher within a self-contained K-6 classroom. This contract opportunity centers on working with students with severe behavioral needs, in a setting that values expertise, compassion, and strong collaboration. In this role, you'll guide and mentor students, utilizing your skills to develop effective Behavioral Intervention Plans and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Your expertise in managing challenging behaviors will play a pivotal part in helping every child achieve meaningful growth throughout the school year.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification Experience working with elementary-aged students (K-6), particularly those with severe behavioral needs Strong understanding of writing and implementing Behavioral Intervention Plans and IEPs Previous experience in a self-contained classroom environment preferred Restraint training is highly desirable Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Key Responsibilities:
Lead instruction and classroom management for students with diverse and intensive behavioral challenges Develop, document, and implement individualized education and behavior plans Utilize evidence-based interventions and maintain accurate records of student progress Collaborate closely with support staff, related service providers, and families to ensure comprehensive care Provide a safe, structured, and positive environment designed for student growth This full-time position offers 37.5 hours per week, providing the opportunity to make a lasting difference in a supportive educational community.
