Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity making a significant difference as a Behavior Special Education Teacher in a K-6 self-contained classroom setting. This contract position focuses on supporting students with severe behaviors, providing a structured and nurturing environment that encourages growth and learning. In this dynamic role, you will collaborate closely with educational teams and families to create individualized learning experiences for each student. Your expertise in developing Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) will help guide positive outcomes, while your compassionate approach will shape meaningful progress for students throughout the school year.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification Experience with students exhibiting severe behaviors Proficiency in writing and implementing Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) and IEPs Prior work in self-contained classroom environments, preferably grades K-6 Restraint training highly preferred Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset Commitment to fostering independence, self-regulation, and academic growthPrimary Responsibilities:
Provide instruction and support in a K-6 self-contained classroom setting Design and implement individualized curriculum and interventions Develop and maintain thorough BIPs and IEPs for students Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and family members Track student progress, make data-driven adjustments, and report regularly Employ de-escalation techniques and, when necessary, appropriate restraint as trained Cultivate a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment If you're passionate about transforming lives and enjoy the challenge of working with students who demonstrate severe behaviors, we encourage you to bring your skills and dedication to this impactful role.
