Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Transform the school year ahead for students as a contract Special Education Teacher based just outside Valley, AL. Multiple opportunities are available for dedicated educators passionate about providing individualized support to students of diverse abilities. These roles offer the chance to work alongside experienced paraprofessionals in well-resourced classes and to build lasting impact through collaboration and expertise. Open Positions for the 2026-2027 academic year include:
PreK Special Education Inclusion Classroom:
Guide a class of up to 18 four-year-olds, consisting of both students with IEPs and typical peers. Enjoy the support of two paraprofessionals and an environment that operates on Eastern Standard Time.
General Education Inclusion Teacher:
Support grades K-5 with a caseload of 11 or fewer students. These inclusion classrooms offer rich opportunities to collaborate with paraprofessionals and serve students on both CST and EST.
Secondary Special Education Self-Contained Classroom:
Educate students in grades 6-8 (possibly including 5th), with a manageable class size of 5-6 (potentially up to 10) and two paraprofessionals, all operating on EST.
Desired Qualifications:
State certification in Special Education (or eligibility). Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusion models. Strong IEP writing and implementation skills. Dedication to fostering a supportive, engaging learning environment. Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized and group instruction in accordance with IEP goals. Maintain ongoing data collection and progress monitoring. Foster positive EI and social-emotional growth. Communicate regularly with families, staff, and support personnel. Participate in IEP meetings and school-based professional development.
