When filled Curently we have three types of Special Education Teachers positions available; 1. SLBC
  • Specific Learning and Behavior Center
  • More self contained classrom working with autisic, down syndrome, and other health issue that doesn't allow our student to be in the gen. ed all day. 2. SLC
  • Specific Learning Center
  • These student have health issue or mental disabilities that don't allow them to be in the gen ed classroom all day.
These students are pushed in more often than students in the SLBC. These students are very independent. 3. Resource teacher 6-8 PRIMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop IEPs for assigned students consistent with ISBE guidelines and School District 81 philosophies. Prepare documents for IEP meetings and communicate with IEP team to facilitate IEP implementation. Serve as case manager for assigned students, providing direct and consulting services. Provide instruction based on students' IEP goals and objectives. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media and assistive technologies. Assesses student progress regularly and provides progress reports as needed. Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required bylaw, district policy, and administrative regulations. Participate in professional growth opportunities and employ reflective practices. Provide time for colleague collaboration, including faculty and team meetings, meeting with school administrators, committee meetings, and other meetings as required. Provide time to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when requested to do so, within reason; use a variety of communication methods to maintain the home-school connection. Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for classroom paraprofessionals and volunteers. Maintain student confidentiality.
