Special Education Teacher - Self-Contained (life skills)

T his position is full time, contracted within a self-contained elementary school environment. This position teaches district life skills curriculum. Caseload/class size is 15 students with 2 paraprofessionals in each class. You will work closely with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop IEPs that meet each child's unique abilities and goals. Duties Write and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) Deliver individualized lessons across core subjects such as literacy, math, social skills, and life skills using high level practices and evidence-based instructional strategies Adapt curriculum materials and classroom activities to accommodate ALL students Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and effective behavior management strategies Use learning technology and instructional design tools to enhance student engagement Maintain detailed records of student progress, IEP goals, behavioral data, and communication logs Experience Prior classroom experience working with children with disabilities Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental disabilities, Specific Learning Disabilities. Strong communication skills for collaborating with families, colleagues, and external service providers Ability to plan lessons effectively while adapting to the unique needs of each student Experience utilizing learning technology tools for instructional purposes and progress assessment Join us in creating high quality educational experiences that unlock every child's potential!
