Special Education Director/Principal Position Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher for 7th and 8th grades who will manage a diverse caseload of students, develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), teach core content classes, and provide the specially designed instruction outlined in IEPs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment and ensuring all students achieve their highest potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management:
Manage a caseload of 7th and 8th-grade students receiving special education services. Maintain up-to-date and accurate records for all assigned students. Act as the primary point of contact for families and collaborate with parents, teachers, and support staff to address student needs.
IEP Development and Implementation:
Develop and write Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs, in compliance with federal and state regulations. Monitor and report on students' progress toward meeting IEP goals. Facilitate IEP meetings and ensure timely completion of all related documentation.
Instructional Support:
Teach classes to students, adapting instruction to address the individual needs and learning styles of each student. Deliver specially designed instruction as outlined in students' IEPs, providing additional support in reading, writing, and organizational skills when necessary. Employ evidence-based teaching strategies and differentiated instruction to promote academic growth and success.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and related service providers to create a cohesive approach to student learning. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure students are receiving the services and support they need to succeed. Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and address concerns.
Compliance and Professionalism:
Stay informed of special education laws, policies, and best practices to ensure compliance and effectiveness. Attend and participate in professional development opportunities, staff meetings, and training sessions as required. Collect and analyze student data to inform instructional decisions and document progress.
Qualifications:
Education:
A bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (master's degree preferred).
Certification:
Must possess a valid Arizona Special Education Teacher certification.
Experience:
Experience teaching middle school students and working with students with diverse learning needs. Prior experience writing IEPs and providing specially designed instruction is preferred.
Skills:
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively manage and prioritize a diverse caseload. Proficiency in differentiating instruction and adapting curriculum to meet individual needs.
