Job Description

Job Purpose To help students overcome problems that impeded learning and to assist them in making educational, occupational, and life plans that hold promise for their personal fulfillment as mature and responsible men and women. Duties and Responsibilities Works to resolve student educational handicaps Works as a liaison to assist parents and students with the educational process. Works to discover and develop special abilities of students, Remains readily available to students so as to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity. Works with students on an individual basis in the solution of personal problems related to such problems as home and family relations, health, and emotional adjustment. Works with the school administration and teachers to help the individual student thrive in the educational environment. Maintains student records and protects their confidentiality. Bachelor's Degree in Social Work Valid IVP Finger Print Card Evaluations Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

Email, Time Clock, Log in to basic software programs Worker Characteristics Deductive Reasoning-The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense for the success and future needs of students. Self-Motivated-Ability to work independently for project completion. Oral Expression-The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand, in a positive manner to co-worker, students, or public. Problem Sensitivity-The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is a problem.

Travel from location to location.
Occasional Travel :
For required training or professional development (In district, out of district, in state, and/or out of state). Possibly exposed to extremes of temperature. Occasionally subjected to extreme noise, odors, mists, dust and poor ventilation. Physical Requirements The position requires frequent lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, speaking, turning, grasping and carrying items over 40 lbs.
