Job Description

Photography Teacher, West Valley, AZ Full time
  • Charter One Description Charter One works with schools across the country to provide all-inclusive education management services.
At Charter One we pride ourselves on our thorough knowledge of charter school operations, academics, finance, human resources, information technology, marketing, and more. We handle the day-to-day work so that client school boards can focus on governance and policy issues to be sure that the vision and mission of the school are being carried out properly. American Leadership Academy is now accepting applications for a Photography Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year for our campuses located in the West Valley. Candidates must possess, or be willing to obtain, a valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Teach students the principles of digital photography, including composition, lighting, exposure, and camera operation
  • Implement lesson plans that align with state art and technology standards
  • Introduce students to photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, or similar tools
  • Explore different genres of photography (e.g., portrait, landscape, documentary, commercial)
  • Instruct students on digital workflow: capturing, editing, organizing, and presenting photographs
  • Guide students through individual and group projects that build both technical skills and artistic expression
  • Encourage creative thinking, visual storytelling, and critique-based feedback in class
  • Assist students in building digital and printed photography portfolios
  • Organize and curate student work for displays, exhibitions, contests, or yearbook projects
  • Provide guidance on photography-related careers, college programs, or freelance opportunities
  • Maintain classroom technology, including cameras, computers, printers, and editing software
  • Enforce safety and proper handling of photography equipment
  • Track inventory and request necessary materials or upgrades
  • Collaborate with other art, media, and technology educators
  • Stay current with digital photography trends, techniques, and tools
  • Connect with local artists, galleries, or community programs for enrichment opportunities

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Photography, Visual Arts, or related field
  • Arizona Teaching Certificate or 24 credit hours in area or Content knowledge exams (AEPA, NES, Praxis) American Leadership Academy offers a competitive salary that is individually determined based on education and experience.
