Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make an impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting elementary students in a dedicated self-contained program. This full-time, school-year contract offers the opportunity to work with 3rd, 4th, or 6th grade students in a setting designed for those who face behavioral challenges. You'll play a crucial role guiding a small class (10-15 students) whose primary eligibilities include diagnoses such as ADHD, ODD, Autism, and emotional disabilities. These students possess strong cognitive abilities, yet benefit from a structured environment and experienced special education professionals, due to behavioral hurdles that affect their classroom performance.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid teaching certification in special education Current IVP fingerprint clearance card Demonstrated expertise in self-contained behavior programs Previous experience with students with ADHD, ODD, Autism, or emotional disabilities Ability to create individualized behavior and academic plans Skill in deescalating challenging situations and fostering positive relationshipsResponsibilities:
Deliver tailored instruction and behavioral support in a self-contained setting Partner with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families Develop, update, and implement IEPs based on student needs Monitor progress and adjust strategies to increase academic and behavioral success Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment that supports social and emotional growth Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and team members regarding student progressWhat Awaits You:
