Job Description
Overview Join our dedicated team as a Caregiver for Special Needs Kids and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with developmental disabilities. In this vital role, you'll provide compassionate, personalized care that promotes independence, safety, and well-being. Your efforts will support children in achieving their goals through engaging activities, behavioral interventions, and attentive daily assistance. This paid position offers an opportunity to work closely with families and healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional care in a nurturing environment. Responsibilities Implement individualized care plans tailored to each child's unique needs, including behavioral health strategies and educational goals. Assist children with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and toileting to promote independence. Apply behavioral therapy techniques and applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles to encourage positive behaviors and skill development. Collect and document data related to behavior management, progress tracking, and medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support children during therapy sessions by facilitating teaching activities aligned with special education standards. Maintain a safe environment by monitoring children closely, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and managing behavior challenges effectively. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including medical professionals, therapists, and educators—to update care plans and document progress accurately. Qualifications Prior experience working with children, especially those with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is highly preferred. Knowledge of behavioral health concepts, behavior management techniques, and medical terminology relevant to pediatric care. Familiarity with data collection methods used in applied behavior analysis (ABA) and behavior therapy settings. Ability to assist with ADLs safely and compassionately while encouraging independence. Strong communication skills for working effectively with children, families, and healthcare teams. Certification or training in behavioral therapy or special education is a plus; willingness to pursue relevant certifications is encouraged.
