Grade Role Overview:
As a Classroom Teacher at CACS, you'll be an integral part of our dynamic faculty team, contributing to our vibrant educational community. You'll collaborate with fellow educators to develop and implement an arts-integrated, project-based curriculum that aligns with our school's philosophy. Your primary responsibility will be to create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment where each student can thrive academically, creatively, and socially.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement an arts-integrated, project-based curriculum that meets California state standards and caters to the diverse learning needs of students from diverse backgrounds, including those with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and English Language Learners (ELLs). Collaborate with grade-level partners, the Director of Arts Programming, Arts Specialists, and visiting artists to design engaging and culturally relevant lessons that integrate various art forms, such as visual arts, music, drama, and dance. Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes self-direction, creativity, and community responsibility, with a particular focus on equity and social justice. Conduct ongoing assessments using a variety of formative and summative measures to monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, and differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs. Maintain open communication with parents/guardians through regular conferences, progress reports, and online platforms, such as Schoology, ensuring transparency and collaboration in supporting student learning and well-being. Participate in professional development activities, including school-sponsored workshops, conferences, and collaborative planning sessions, to enhance teaching practices, cultural competency, and understanding of the Responsive Classroom® approach.
Additional Professional Duties:
Attend and actively participate in school events and meetings, including Back to School Night, Exhibition of Learning Events, and Parent Teacher Conferences, as well as Individual Education Plan (IEP) Meetings and Student/Study Team (SST) Meetings as needed. Adhere to school policies and procedures, including attendance at weekly staff meetings and up to two additional staff meetings per semester, as well as professional development/in-service training sessions during regular working hours.
Benefits:
Competitive salary range: $69,169.00 - $120,718.00 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Paid CPR/First Aid training to ensure the safety and well-being of students. 200 prep minutes per week and approximately 130 minutes for collaboration per week, depending on the school schedule.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Preferred) Minimum of 2 years teaching experience, preferably in an arts-integrated or project-based learning environment (Preferred) Valid California teaching credential or eligibility for certification reciprocity (Preferred)
Schedule:
Full-time position with an 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday, following the school calendar.
