A rewarding opportunity awaits you as a Special Education Teacher working with students in grades 1-5 who have extensive support needs and are non-verbal. Located in the vibrant community near Emeryville, this full-time contract role spans the upcoming school year, from August 19th, 2026, through June 14th, 2027. With a manageable caseload of five students, you'll provide meaningful instruction and support, fostering growth in a nurturing, specialized classroom environment.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Current and active California teaching credentials required Prior experience with elementary-aged students with extensive support needs (ESN) preferred Expertise in supporting non-verbal communication and alternative augmentative communication (AAC) strategies Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) Collaborative approach to working with paraprofessionals, specialists, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and deliver tailored curriculum and instruction for students with moderate to severe disabilities Employ assistive technologies and AAC devices to enhance communication and learning Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports in compliance with IEP goals Cultivate a supportive and structured classroom setting Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic student development In recognition of your commitment, you'll enjoy an hourly wage between $40 and $50, along with robust benefits including weekly pay, comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, vision, and life insurance), a matching 401(k), and a flexible spending account.
