Job Description

Job Overview Applicants must be located in the Fremont, Union City, and Newark area and willing to commute to students' homes. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Tutor to join our team. This role involves working one-on-one with students of various ages, including children and adults, who have diverse learning needs. This job requires commuting to students' homes or public spaces such as libraries for in-person instruction. Tutors must hold a valid driver's license. This position is ideal for those with another full-time job seeking supplemental income outside typical 9-5 work hours, or for students looking for a flexible part-time work schedule. Duties Assess each student's individual learning needs, strengths, and challenges to develop tailored, goal-oriented lesson plans. Provide patient, one-on-one instruction adapted to a range of learning differences, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia, and other learning disabilities. Modify teaching methods, pacing, and materials to align with each student's IEP (Individualized Education Program) or 504 Plan goals where applicable. Use evidence-based, multi-sensory teaching strategies to support comprehension, retention, and confidence. Experience & Qualifications A minimum of 3 years of professional tutoring or teaching experience. Experience in special education is highly desirable, along with knowledge of behavior and classroom management techniques. Familiarity with IEP/504 accommodations and how to implement them in a one-on-one setting. A background in FUSD (Fremont Unified School District) curriculum is a plus, showcasing the ability to create engaging, standards-aligned content Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (required). Preferred Credentials (Not Required) Degree or coursework in Special Education, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field. Experience working with students who have specific learning disabilities or developmental differences. Schedule & Location Part-time, flexible hours (after-school, evenings, and weekends available). In-person sessions throughout Fremont, Union City, and Newark.
