PrintGENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Middle School Principal, is primarily responsible for the academic, social and psychological growth of students in a departmentalized middle school. The teacher is expected to maintain a safe, caring, student-centered environment that promotes high academic and ethical standards and to perform other duties directly related to this position description.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General:
Ensures the continual improvement of learning for every student. Implements the appropriate actions and strategies delineated for the school as part of the District's Mission Statement. Diagnose, assess, instruct, guide and counsel students and maintain professional standards and skills to provide a positive classroom and school climate. Provides a classroom environment that fosters the opportunity to meet the individual needs of all students. Attempts to successfully meet/accomplish, subject matter objectives established by the department school and District for each student. Promotes the valuing of every student's right to be treated with dignity and respect. Demonstrates leadership and support of the educational and administrative philosophies of the school. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with fellow staff, parents and community members.Additional Related Duties/Responsibilities:
Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies; maintain required inventory records. Ensures a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting and ventilation to the extent possible. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with District testing program; Participates in curriculum development programs within the school of assignment and/or on a District level. Shares in sponsorship of student activities and participate in faculty committees.Requirements / Qualifications
