Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, and other health conditions. In this vital role, you will foster independence, promote well-being, and ensure safety through personalized care plans. Your dedication will help create a positive environment where clients feel valued, respected, and empowered to live their best lives. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or assisting with transfers. Monitor patients' vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, documenting findings accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Prepare nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary restrictions and individual preferences, ensuring proper food safety and cleanliness standards. Administer medications following prescribed care plans and document medication administration meticulously. Support clients during community outings or activities to promote social engagement and independence while ensuring safety at all times. Conduct patient observation to identify needs or concerns promptly, escalating issues to supervisors as necessary. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols in compliance with healthcare standards. Requirements Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly preferred. Knowledge of patient care techniques including assisting with ADLs, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and dementia or Alzheimer's care. Certifications such as CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), First Aid, and HIPAA training are required or must be obtained upon hire. Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks involved in patient transfers or mobility assistance. Strong observational skills with the patience to work with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, or other special needs. Excellent communication skills combined with a caring attitude to foster trust and rapport with clients. Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours as needed.
