  • Full-time Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Authorization Specialist to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing patient authorizations and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and insurance verification processes. The Authorization Specialist will work closely with our medical office to facilitate the authorization process, ensuring that all necessary information is accurately documented and submitted in a timely manner. This position will also help with administrative tasks and billing. Responsibilities Review and process authorization requests for medical procedures and services. Help with medical billing. Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility for services. Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to obtain necessary information. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient records. Utilize ICD-10, ICD-9, and medical coding knowledge to accurately document diagnoses and procedures. Maintain organized medical records and documentation related to authorizations. Assist in resolving any issues or discrepancies related to authorization requests. Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, coding practices, and healthcare regulations. Requirements Proven experience in a medical office or dental office setting preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9). Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus. Experience with insurance verification processes is highly desirable.
