Special Education Certification Full Job Description Job Summary:
EMIT Learning is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher for Visually Impaired students for a full-time, onsite position in Mountain View, CA for the 2026-2027 school year. The Special Education Teacher for Visually Impaired will provide specialized instruction, adapt curriculum, support IEP implementation, and use assistive technology and tactile materials to help students access learning. This role works closely with students, families, teachers, therapists, and school-based teams to support academic, social, behavioral, and functional growth.

Credential Required:
California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with
Visual Impairments Authorization Responsibilities:
Design and deliver individualized lesson plans for students with visual impairments. Use specialized instructional strategies, assistive technology, tactile materials, and learning technology tools. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, review, and implement Individualized Education Programs, IEPs. Set and support clear academic, social, behavioral, communication, and functional goals for students. Adapt curriculum across subjects, including literacy, math, early childhood education, and related learning areas. Provide direct instruction in communication skills, sensory integration strategies, and functional learning skills. Support behavioral management strategies and positive behavior interventions. Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation. Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, therapists, families, and school administrators. Support students across grade levels based on individual needs. Maintain compliance with special education requirements, school policies, and IEP documentation standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Childhood Development, Education, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred. Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with Visual Impairments Authorization required. Teaching certification with specialization, endorsement, or authorization in visual impairments required. Strong knowledge of assistive technology, tactile learning materials, and adaptive instructional tools. Experience developing and implementing IEPs. Experience with curriculum development for students with visual impairments. Knowledge of behavioral therapy, behavior intervention, or applied behavior analysis strategies preferred. Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills. Ability to collaborate with students, families, therapists, teachers, and school staff. Ability to work full-time onsite in Mountain View, CA.
Preferred Experience:
Prior school-based experience as a Teacher for Visually Impaired students, TVI. Experience supporting students across multiple grade levels. Experience adapting curriculum for literacy, math, communication, and functional skills. Experience using assistive technology for visually impaired learners. Experience with sensory integration strategies and behavior support plans.
