This role involves providing specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, ensuring they have access to a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering academic growth, social-emotional development, and communication skills among students with diverse needs. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with disabilities, supporting their journey toward independence and success. Duties Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of students with hearing impairments, including those with additional disabilities such as autism or developmental delays. Deliver specialized instruction in core academic subjects such as literacy education, math, and early childhood education, utilizing appropriate learning technologies and instructional design strategies. Collaborate closely with speech therapists, behavioral therapists, music therapists, and other specialists to support holistic student development. Employ effective classroom management techniques to create a positive, inclusive learning environment conducive to active engagement. Utilize various teaching methods including sign language, visual aids, and assistive listening devices to facilitate effective communication. Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools and provide regular progress reports for each student. Plan and execute lesson plans that incorporate curriculum development principles aligned with state standards and best practices in deaf education. Support students' social-emotional growth through mentoring, behavioral health strategies, and recreational therapy activities. Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEP goals, and behavioral interventions while ensuring compliance with educational regulations. Engage in ongoing professional development related to early intervention techniques, visual impairment education, and applied behavior analysis. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Deaf Education, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred. Valid teaching certification/license for special education with endorsement or certification in deaf education. Proven classroom experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in diverse settings such as private schools or early intervention programs. Demonstrated expertise in speech therapy techniques, literacy education, math instruction, and curriculum development tailored for students with disabilities. Strong knowledge of learning technology tools and assistive devices used in deaf education. Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills across multiple modalities including sign language proficiency is preferred. Ability to develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate instructional design principles and accommodate diverse learning styles. Familiarity with behavioral management strategies such as applied behavior analysis (ABA) and behavioral health practices. Compassionate approach to working with children requiring childcare support, preschool experience, or toddler care services.
