Job Summary We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Outdoor Specialist Instructor for our College for Kids program. This paid position involves leading engaging outdoor activities and educational experiences for children, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and fun environment. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, strong classroom management skills, and a passion for working with children to inspire their curiosity and growth.

  • 26•9:00AM-12:00PM and 1:00PM-4:00PM, July 6-10•9:00AM-12:00PM July 13-17•9:00AM-12:00PM Classes run 9:00 AM-12:00 PM or 1:00 PM-4:00
PM, Monday-Friday Starting Pay Rate:
$35/hour

Part-time, Contract, TemporaryInstructors may teach 1-3 weeks depending on availability and scheduling. Responsibilities Develop and deliver exciting, hands-on lessons adapted for youth ages 6-13 Teach and demonstrate survival skills safely and clearly Maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment Ensure proper supervision and safe use of all tools/materials Promote teamwork, communication, and confidence-building Collaborate with program staff to support daily operations Plan, organize, and lead outdoor activities that promote childhood development, teamwork, and environmental awareness Ensure the safety of all participants by implementing proper supervision and safety protocols Manage classroom behavior effectively to maintain a positive learning environment Provide first aid and respond appropriately to emergencies or incidents during activities Maintain clear communication with parents or guardians regarding program activities and student progress Uphold policies related to special education needs, behavior management, and child safety standards
Qualifications:
Minimum age 21 Outdoor education, scouting, or wilderness training experience Experience leading activities in outdoor settings Demonstrated experience with wilderness survival skills
Preferred:
At least 1 year of experience teaching or working with children Strong communication and classroom/group management skills Ability to create age-appropriate lesson plans Commitment to fostering a fun, safe, and engaging learning environment Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude towards working with students of all backgrounds CPR/First Aid certification About this class: Students ages 6-9 and 10-13 learn practical, real-world wilderness survival skills through fun and interactive activities.

Knot tying & rope skills Shelter building using natural materials Water purification techniques Fire building basics & safety Finding food in the wild Navigation & preventing getting lost Wilderness safety and first actions in emergencies Essential outdoor clothing & equipment Join us in making a lasting impact on young learners by inspiring their love for outdoor exploration and learning!
