Job Description

Deaf & Hard of Hearing Teacher (D/HH) Club Xcite, in affiliation with AB Staffing, is looking for an experienced Deaf & Hard of Hearing Teacher (D/HH) that is available for the 2026/2027 school year. .
Requirements:
Valid California Education Specialist Credential with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Authorization Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field (Master's preferred) Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) or proficient in other communication modes used by DHH students Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Knowledge of and ability to implement assistive listening devices (e.g., FM systems, hearing aids) Strong understanding of Deaf culture and inclusive teaching practices Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Must pass criminal background check and meet state clearance requirements Must have the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; and the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; May include frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required.
Job Description:
Details of position/classroom type will differ based on school location Recruitment Specialists can discuss in detail upon application to connect you to the classroom and best suits your experience and skillset Contract through the 2026/2027 school year - 37.5 to 40 hours per week Contract follows the academic district calendar
Essential Functions:
Provides expertise to school teams and works with students with hearing loss to provide appropriate educational services, and assess and determine the impact of the hearing loss and areas of potential need for intervention Write IEPs, provide direct service 1:1, in small groups, as push-in classroom services, and consultation with school staff, per the IEP, to support educational attainment and successful communication for students who are deaf and hard of hearing Travel to schools to serve the needs of students with hearing loss Collect information from all team members, including the students, and administer appropriate assessments that will help gauge the student's functional and academic abilities in critical listening situations, phonological awareness, auditory skill development, compensatory skills, social skill development, literacy, expressive and receptive vocabulary, communication, and language Conduct classroom observations to determine if the student with hearing loss has access to communication, determine most appropriate seating for the child according to acoustic parameters and make recommendations for accommodations and modifications that ensure access Assist teams in working with the educational interpreter for assessment purposes, class arrangement, and roles and responsibilities of the interpreter
