Floater — San Mateo Floater | The Modern Schoolhouse | San Mateo, CA $21-$23/hour • Part-Time (25-28 hrs/week, flexible) • In-Person The Modern Schoolhouse is hiring a Floater for our San Mateo campus — a premium early childhood education and childcare program. This is a flexible, part-time role for someone passionate about kids who wants to learn how a great preschool runs. No prior classroom experience required. Floaters move between classrooms (infant, toddler, and Pre-K), supporting Lead Teachers wherever help is needed. It's the best vantage point in the school for someone considering an ECE career. Requirements Genuine love for children and an instinct to be helpful around them Adaptability — comfortable when the day pivots multiple times Reliability — show up on time, every shift Warmth and professionalism with families and team members No ECE units or classroom experience required Responsibilities Step into infant, toddler, or Pre-K classrooms to support the Lead Teacher Cover rooms briefly so teachers can take breaks, attend parent meetings, or join trainings Help with circle time, art projects, sensory play, and outdoor activities Support diapering, snack prep, and classroom cleanup Pitch in with front office on tours, family check-ins, or seasonal projects Build genuine relationships with kids across all age groups Who This Role Fits ECE students or anyone considering ECE as a career Career explorers wanting to test classroom work Parents looking for meaningful, flexible part-time work Recent grads building experience while figuring out next steps Development Support (If You Want It) This role is flexible by design.
