Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher working with students who have mild/moderate or moderate/severe disabilities. The role focuses on supporting students with primary and emotional disabilities within a Nexus Program setting. You will work with children in grades 2 through 4, providing tailored instruction and support in a classroom environment designed to meet diverse learning needs. Responsibilities include delivering individualized education plans (IEPs), collaborating closely with paraeducators, and fostering a supportive, inclusive classroom atmosphere. The classroom typically includes 2 to 8 students, with a maximum of 10, allowing for personalized attention and targeted teaching strategies. You will work alongside a dedicated team of three para professionals who assist in implementing lesson plans and supporting student needs throughout the day.
Qualifications and Experience:
Certification or licensure as a Special Education Teacher Experience teaching students with mild/moderate and moderate/severe disabilities Knowledge of working with primary and emotional disabilities Ability to develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs Strong classroom management and collaboration skills Prior experience with Nexus Program or similar specialized support programs is advantageous
Schedule:
