The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, and other special educational requirements. This role involves developing individualized education plans (IEPs), implementing effective teaching strategies, and collaborating with parents and other professionals to support student success. Responsibilities Develop and implement tailored lesson plans that accommodate the unique learning styles of students with disabilities. Create and maintain IEPs for each student, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Utilize various teaching methods, including behavioral therapy, speech therapy, and early intervention techniques to enhance student learning. Manage classroom behavior effectively through established behavior management strategies. Collaborate with general education teachers to integrate students into mainstream classrooms when appropriate. Conduct assessments and standardized testing to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly. Provide tutoring and mentoring support to students as needed to reinforce learning objectives. Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities related to special education practices, literacy education, math instruction, and childhood development. Maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid teaching certification in Special Education. Experience working with students with disabilities in a classroom setting is essential. Strong skills in curriculum development and lesson planning tailored for diverse learners. Knowledge of early childhood education principles, particularly in relation to autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities. Proficiency in classroom management techniques and behavioral health strategies. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, and colleagues. Familiarity with Montessori methods or private school experience is a plus. Experience in library services or tutoring can be beneficial but is not mandatory.
