Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful full-time contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year supporting students with significant support needs in an elementary education program. As a Special Education Teacher, you'll play an essential role in the lives of students with moderate to severe disabilities, designing interventions that foster their academic, social, and emotional growth.
Key Qualifications:
Hold an active Colorado Special Education License or have eligibility to obtain one via reciprocity. Previous experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities is preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in implementing behavioral support and effective classroom management. Background in supervising and guiding paraprofessional staff is a plus. Commitment to collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, paraprofessionals, administrators, and families.
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality specialized instruction tailored for students needing significant support. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student-specific goals. Employ individualized supports and behavior intervention strategies. Collaborate closely with support personnel, families, and allied professionals to maximize student success. Collect, maintain, and review student progress data and ensure all compliance documentation is up-to-date. Participate actively in IEP meetings and team planning sessions.
