Shift:
Day | 5x8‑hour shifts (07:30 AM - 04:00 PM) Position Summary We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher (Moderate/Severe) for a 13‑week assignment in an elementary school setting. The teacher will lead a center‑based program for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and similar needs. Candidates must have prior experience serving children with ASD and strong skills in classroom management, IEP development, and collaboration with paraprofessionals. Requirements Minimum 1+ year of experience serving children with ASD (required) Prior special education teaching experience (required) Experience writing and implementing IEPs (required) Ability to manage and train 5-6 paraprofessionals CPI training required within first 90 days Strong preference for candidates with experience working with non‑verbal students and use of AAC devices/visual supports Responsibilities Provide instruction and support for students with moderate/severe disabilities in grades K-5 Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) Manage classroom staff including paraprofessionals, ensuring effective support strategies Utilize AAC devices and visual supports to facilitate communication and learning Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed Collaborate with families, school staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure student success Work Environment Elementary school setting Case load: ~10 students Student population: children with autism or ASD‑related needs Classroom support: 5-6 paraprofessionals Focus on individualized instruction, communication supports, and behavioral management
