Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A special education teaching opportunity is available in Ledyard, CT, supporting an elementary-level specialized social-emotional program. This maternity leave contract position works collaboratively with a team including a colleague teacher, BCBA, social worker, and paraeducators to provide targeted instruction and support to students with unique learning needs.

Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:20 AM - 3:30 PM (6.5 hours/day; 32.5 weekly hours)
Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the social-emotional needs of elementary students Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to create and implement individualized education plans (IEP) Update and maintain accurate IEP documentation Participate actively in PPT meetings to discuss student progress and needs Provide brief oversight and management of paraeducator staff supporting the program Adapt teaching strategies to support a flexible caseload of approximately four students in grades 3-5
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
Valid special education teaching certification Experience working with social-emotional learning programs and elementary-aged students Ability to collaborate effectively with behavior specialists (BCBA), social workers, and paraeducators Strong organizational skills for managing IEP processes and documentation Flexibility to cover a fluid caseload and adapt to evolving student needs This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a specialized educational setting by supporting students' social-emotional growth and academic success.
