Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Bring your expertise and compassion as a Special Education Teacher to a part-time role supporting elementary students in a resource-based, pull-out setting. Make a real impact in the lives of children in grades K-5, working closely with a supportive school team to foster educational growth and independence. This mid-September 2026 start offers a rewarding contract through June 2027. Enjoy a workweek tailored for work-life balance—Monday through Thursday, 9am to 2pm, for a total of 20 hours each week. Earn between $37 and $47 per hour while making a difference every day.
What We're Looking For:
Valid 165 or 165 CT Special Education PK-12 licensure (DSAP licenses not eligible) Demonstrated experience teaching or supporting K-5 students in special education Ability to develop and deliver individualized instruction and accommodations Strong communication skills for collaborating with general education teachers, families, and support staff Knowledge of compliance and documentation practices for IEPs and special education regulations Passion for empowering students of varied backgrounds and abilities
Your Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction to small groups or individual K-5 students in a pull-out resource setting Design and implement effective, engaging lessons aligned to students' IEP goals Collaborate with classroom teachers to help integrate modifications and accommodations Track progress, collect data, and prepare required documentation for IEP meetings and compliance Communicate regularly with parents and multidisciplinary team members regarding student growth and needs Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for all learners If you are dedicated to supporting elementary students with special needs and meet the licensing requirements, this is your opportunity to inspire and make a positive impact.
