Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting elementary students in a resource setting. This part-time role is designed for an educator passionate about making a difference and guiding young learners in grades K-5. You'll provide specialized instruction in a pull-out classroom, collaborating with colleagues and families to enhance educational experiences. The position starts in mid-September 2026 and continues through June 2027. You'll work Mondays through Thursdays, from 9 am to 2 pm (20 hours per week), allowing you to maintain a balanced schedule while impacting students' lives.
Required Qualifications:
Current and valid Connecticut Special Education licensure (165 or 265 endorsement required; DSAP licenses not accepted) Experience working with elementary-aged students (K-5) in a school-based special education setting Strong communication and collaborative skills for engaging with families, students, and multidisciplinary teams Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring, and implementation of individualized supports
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted instruction in a resource room setting for students with a range of learning needs Adapt lessons and materials to accommodate individualized education plans (IEPs) Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation Work closely with general education teachers and related service providers to support student inclusion and growth Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing educational planning Compensation for this position ranges from $37 to $47 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
