Beecher Road School is a caring and creative community that models and inspires the joy of lifelong learning, embraces diversity, and celebrates the unique qualities of each person. Woodbridge is one of Connecticut's premier towns, and Beecher Road School is the heart of the town. The District is recruiting a 1.0 FTE special education teacher to support students with a range of special education needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Promotes student engagement, independence, and interdependence in learning and facilitates a positive learning community Communicate and collaborate with families, grade level colleagues and related service providers Plans and implements instruction to engage students in rigorous and relevant learning and to promote their curiosity about the world at large Maximizes support for student learning by developing and demonstrating professionalism, collaboration, and leadership
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Required:
Background, interest, and/or expertise in special education at the elementary level, in particular working with students with behavioral, emotional, and/or social needs, and/or working with a structural literacy approach in teaching reading to students. Reading certification and/or Orton-Gillingham certification preferred Hold or be eligible for State of Connecticut Certification as a special educator (065 or 165 certification, or their equivalents, acceptable).
SALARY AND BENEFITS
This position is a full-time, school-year position. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the District and the Woodbridge Education Association.
