Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract This opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher to support elementary students with diverse learning needs. The position is based in Wilmington, DE, within an elementary school setting, serving a caseload that includes one opening for Autism support. The contract runs from early February through mid-June, Monday through Friday, from 8:25 a.m. to 3:55 p.m., including a paid 30-minute lunch break, totaling 37.5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) focused on special education students' academic and social growth Provide specialized instruction for students with Autism and other developmental disabilities Collaborate with general education teachers, aides, and therapy staff to create inclusive classroom environments Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with families and school administration
Qualifications:
Valid Delaware Special Education Teaching license required; please attach a PDF copy of your license and resume when applying Previous experience working with elementary-aged students in special education settings, specifically with Autism spectrum disorders Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and legal requirements for special education Ability to create positive and supportive learning environments tailored to individual needs Willingness to complete an $85 CBC fingerprinting background check before placement (candidates must proactively confirm their agreement) This is a contracted school year position ideal for educators passionate about making a difference in students' lives through individualized support and teamwork.
