Position Overview The VPK Teacher will lead a developmentally appropriate early childhood classroom that supports the whole child. This role focuses on kindergarten readiness, early literacy, numeracy, social-emotional development, independence, confidence, and positive classroom routines. The ideal candidate is warm, organized, dependable, and passionate about helping four-year-old students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Student Growth Plan and deliver age-appropriate VPK lessons and activities aligned with early childhood best practices. Support kindergarten readiness through early literacy, phonological awareness, number sense, fine motor development, language development, and social-emotional learning. Create engaging hands-on learning experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, independence, and confidence. Monitor student progress and provide feedback to parents and school leadership as needed. Support each child's individual developmental needs in a caring and structured classroom environment. Classroom Structure & Planning Maintain a safe, organized, clean, and welcoming classroom. Establish consistent routines, expectations, and classroom procedures. Foster a positive classroom culture built on respect, kindness, independence, and responsibility. Prepare materials, centers, activities, and classroom displays that support student learning. Collaborate with early childhood colleagues and school leadership to support program goals. Family & School Partnership Build strong, trusting relationships with students and families. Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding student progress, classroom updates, and any concerns. Partner with families to support each child's success. Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development as needed. Qualifications Experience working with preschool, VPK, or early childhood students required. Florida VPK, CDA, FCCPC, Birth Through Five Credential, or equivalent early childhood credential preferred. Completion of required Florida early childhood/VPK trainings strongly preferred, including emergent literacy and preschool standards training. Florida DCF notes that staff credential verification is used for licensing compliance, and the Florida Department of Education identifies required VPK instructor literacy and standards training. Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field preferred. Strong classroom management, communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
