The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, classroom management, and curriculum development. This role involves guiding students through foundational skills in literacy, math, social-emotional development, and physical activities, ensuring each child's individual needs are met with care and professionalism. The Kindergarten Teacher will also collaborate with colleagues, communicate effectively with parents, and implement innovative teaching strategies to promote a love of learning. Responsibilities Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating literacy education, math, and early childhood development principles. Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies to create a positive learning environment. Assess student progress regularly using standardized testing and formative assessments; adapt instruction accordingly to support diverse learning needs. Incorporate learning technology and library services into daily lessons to enhance student engagement and literacy skills. Provide mentorship and support to students with special needs, including those requiring early intervention or working with children with autism. Plan and lead physical education activities, promoting healthy movement habits and motor skill development. Collaborate with parents, guardians, and educational staff to discuss student progress, behavioral concerns, and individualized education plans (IEPs). Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavioral notes in compliance with educational policies. Engage in ongoing professional development related to early childhood education, Montessori methods, or other specialized teaching approaches such as behavior management or literacy strategies. Experience Proven classroom experience working with young children in an educational setting. Experience developing curriculum content across core subjects such as literacy education, math, and science for early learners. Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies suitable for kindergarten-aged students. Prior experience working with children requiring special education services or early intervention programs is preferred. Knowledge of teaching physical education, tutoring methods, standardized testing procedures, and working with children with autism or other developmental needs is advantageous. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues and parents; proficiency in writing reports and proofreading educational materials is a plus. Experience utilizing learning technology tools to support instruction is desirable.
