In this role, you will deliver engaging lessons across various scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences. Duties Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards that incorporate hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and technology-enhanced activities. Facilitate active classroom discussions to promote inquiry-based learning and scientific reasoning among students. Assess student progress through quizzes, projects, standardized tests, and formative assessments; provide constructive feedback to support growth. Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment conducive to exploration and discovery. Incorporate diverse instructional strategies including differentiated instruction, project-based learning, and the integration of learning technology tools. Guide students through laboratory experiments such as dissection, microbiology studies, and molecular biology techniques while emphasizing safety protocols. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional design to ensure cohesive science education across grade levels. Mentor students individually or in small groups to support their academic achievement and interest in science-related careers. Prepare students for standardized testing by reviewing key concepts in math (including algebra, geometry, trigonometry), scientific research methods, and problem-solving skills. Engage in ongoing professional development related to science education trends, classroom management strategies, and special education accommodations where applicable. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Science Education or a related field; advanced degrees preferred. Proven classroom experience teaching middle school science with a strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional design. Expertise in core scientific disciplines such as biology (cell biology, genetics, biochemistry), chemistry (organic chemistry), physics (differential equations), and earth sciences. Knowledge of learning technology tools used for instruction and assessment purposes. Strong communication skills to effectively engage students, parents, and colleagues. Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering an inclusive environment that supports diverse learners including those in special education programs. Familiarity with standardized testing preparation strategies and tutoring techniques. Experience working with students of varying academic levels Skills in mentoring students through scientific research projects or science fairs; proficiency in proofreading lesson materials is advantageous. Commitment to continuous professional growth through research participation or higher education teaching opportunities within science disciplines.
