Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as an Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, working on-site in the vibrant Southeast Florida Coast region. This full-time contract role spans the academic year from August 5, 2026, through June 1, 2027, providing essential DHH services to learners in grades K-12 across multiple schools. Your expertise will support a diverse student population, collaborating with educational teams to empower students and create inclusive learning environments. Day-to-day, you'll play an integral role in the assessment, support, and advocacy for students with hearing differences.
Key Qualifications:
Active Florida Department of Education certification (FL DOE Cert) required Previous experience teaching Deaf or Hard of Hearing students across K-12 settings strongly preferred Ability to adapt to various school sites and student needs as an itinerant educator Familiarity with audiological screenings, assessments, and assistive technology Willingness to complete fingerprinting/background procedures (existing DOH prints may be transferable) Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with staff, families, and students
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored DHH instructional services to students in varying grade levels Support Functional Listening Evaluations (FLEs) and participate in Usher Screenings throughout the district Collect and manage audiological evaluations, uploading records promptly into the PEER system Serve as a resource for staff and families regarding hearing support, accommodations, and student progress Travel between multiple schools, adapting to dynamic schedules and student assignments If you are committed to advancing educational equity for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and ready to make a significant impact, we encourage you to apply today.
