MAJOR FUNCTION
Responsible for the educational leadership of students in a group or class in the school. The teacher is expected to understand and demonstrate the use of the school's curriculum, student instruction and assessment to maximize educational achievement for all students; work collaboratively to ensure a working and learning climate for all students that is safe, secure and respectful. Implementing strategies to reach the multiple intelligences of students through creative lessons is required. Duties/Responsibilities & Expectations Understands central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structure of the discipline(s) taught and makes the subject matter meaningful to students. Maintains a copy of daily plans in the classroom which will be made available to administration and/or parents when requested. Provides students and parents with timely data for improvement in student achievement. Uses formal and informal assessment strategies to determine whether students have achieved high standards and modifies instructional strategies as needed to maximize achievement. Understands how students learn and provides hands-on, collaborative, and higher order learning opportunities that support intellectual, social, and personal development of diverse learners. Provides modified and small-group instruction, when deemed appropriate. Is familiar with the MTSS process and provides and documents interventions for identified students. Is familiar with students' EP and IEP plans, and provides and documents required accommodations. Establishes and maintains a classroom management plan which promotes a safe, secure, and productive classroom environment. Develops rules and regulations for the management of the classroom within the context of the school wide management plan. Manages student misconduct promptly and resolves conflict and crises effectively. Encourages positive behavior through clear expectations, consistent communication, redirection, specific praise, fair and consistent follow-through, and by developing relationships. Promotes an independent and collaborative work ethic. Develops and manages human resources within the classroom by maintaining a professional development plan and engaging in professional development activities, recognizing students and parents for contributions toward goal achievement. Uses teaching and learning strategies that reflect each student's culture, learning styles, special needs, and socioeconomic background. Seeks resources necessary to achieve classroom and school goals, such as; course materials that match the reading level of students. Uses classroom processes that support effective teaching and learning to promote high student achievement, designing lessons to promote all students engaged in learning all the time, through such strategies as active learning, hands-on application, and teacher-student, and student-student conversations about the learning. Uses appropriate technology in teaching and learning processes. Uses required technology for assessment administration, documentation and data tracking, and communication. Demonstrates positive classroom results and trends. Takes part in the staff development programs of the school. Updates and maintains professional knowledge and acquires professional development requisites, courses, and endorsements for the renewal of their professional teaching certification. Directs and/or participates in extracurricular and/or co-curricular activities as assigned by the administration such as field trips and after school activities, science fairs, etc. Participates in after-hours activities on evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays (home visits, Welcome Picnic, Open House, Curriculum Night, STEM Expo, School-Choice Expo, FSA tutoring, etc.) Maintains accurate records of communication with parents. Updates Teacher's portal information as prescribed by the administration, including but not limited to information regarding students' grades, assignments, and homework. Maintains accurate records of students' excused absences and follows the procedure as prescribed by the administration. Participates and takes an active role in the team meetings as scheduled by administration or the team coordinator. Checks professional e-mails and voice mails three times daily: morning, midday and after school. Responds within 48 hours. Checks personal mailbox at least once every day in the morning before classes begin. Keeps lunch duties and/or other duties punctually and responsibly as assigned by the administration. Be familiar with, implement, and comply with the River City Science Academy Student Handbook, Employee Handbook, Student Progression plan. Implement Florida State Standards and prepare annual plan along with the school year calendar and submit a copy of annual plan to administration. Always maintain proper supervision of the students. No student should ever be left unsupervised for any reason, and no student should ever be sent to an unsupervised area. RCSA believes that teaching the subject area well depends on three important factors: 1

- Being well organized Provide and plan at least one club and tutoring or CMP and other after school activities as requested by the administration.
Teachers may substitute for another fellow teacher as requested. Teacher will prepare a substitute folder in the format presented. Teachers are encouraged to share his/her educational skills and ideas with other teachers. To facilitate the sharing of skills and ideas, teachers are encouraged to invite other teachers to visit their classroom as well as to visit other teachers' classrooms Teachers should share and contribute their ideas about school issues when asked. Teachers are required to participate in all parent, team, faculty, staff, and other requested and required meetings. Teachers are expected to set good examples for the students in appearance, maintaining business casual attire, as well as in behavior. Teachers are required to observe confidentiality issues surrounding students and parents. Teachers will be ready for in-class evaluations by the Administration and/or expert designated by the administration. Teachers will be aware of emergency plans and will implement during the drills and real emergencies. Teachers will keep RCSA connect and websites up to date. The following duties may be assigned: Hallway Duty-Between and during classes. Monitor student activities to avoid conflicts and destruction of school property
Bus Duty:
Make sure when the busses arrive, report the students who are not appropriately dressed, and supervise students until the bell rings for the lockers. In the afternoon make sure no bus riders are left behind and report the bus for departure.
Cafeteria duty:
Ensure all students are seated and quite before they can eat their lunch or purchase a school lunch. Maintain an appropriate eating environment. Students need to enter and exit cafeteria in an orderly fashion. Ensure student tables are cleaned before dismissing a table. Teacher will perform any other duties not specifically defined above as requested by the Administration.
