Hope Haven is seeking a Pre-K Classroom Teacher to join our specialized education team serving children ages 3-5 with intellectual or developmental disabilities. This role is ideal for someone who truly loves working directly with young children, thrives in a structured environment, and takes pride in delivering high-quality instruction and classroom leadership. We welcome candidates with or without a current teaching certification . What matters to us is demonstrated skill, sound judgment, and at least 2 years of experience working meaningfully with children in similar settings. What This Role Is Really About You are the conductor of the classroom, maintaining the flow of the day, the structure of the environment, and the consistency that young learners depend on. You bring both technical proficiency and calm leadership , ensuring that instruction, behavior supports, and staff coordination come together seamlessly. Your success will be measured by your ability to: Understand each child deeply Plan purposeful instruction Keep the classroom running with predictable rhythm Collaborate with colleagues and families Communicate clearly, compassionately, and professionally Key Responsibilities 1. Individualized Goal Setting & Documentation Translate assessment results, parent interviews, and trial days into actionable, measurable goals across social, academic, and physical domains. Use Hope Haven's established IDP/IEP-style templates (and contribute ideas for continuous improvement). Collect data and formally review progress regularly. Communicate progress professionally to families, including during IDP meetings and as requested. 2. High-Quality Lesson Planning & Differentiated Instruction Develop weekly/daily lesson plans aligned with the classroom's established structure (circle time, literacy block, etc.). Differentiate instruction for each child's learning profile and functional level. Collaborate with other classroom staff, assigning instructional activities and adapting materials appropriately. Ensure teaching materials are prepared by using organizational resources (e.g., requesting preparation support with adequate notice). 3. Classroom Leadership & Management Maintain fidelity to the classroom schedule, transitions, and visual supports. Model effective classroom-wide behavior strategies (first-next boards, visual cues, routines). Direct classroom staff with clarity and respect. Maintain calm, flexibility, and problem-solving when unexpected behaviors or needs arise. 4. Collaboration & Team Coordination Engage daily with colleagues during the morning case-staffing window to align on individual behavior plans developed with the BCBA. Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff on the implementation and fidelity of behavior plans. Communicate proactively with colleagues about emerging needs or concerns. 5. Professional Communication & Writing Write clear, grammatically correct, fact-based notes and updates for families and colleagues. Use Brightwheel for classroom communication and documentation. Maintain respectful, regulated communication at all times, especially in challenging situations. 6. Authentic Understanding of the Population We Serve Demonstrate patience, empathy, and attunement to children's developmental, social, and emotional needs. Approach each person with curiosity, not judgment. Work comfortably alongside peers with different strengths, levels of experience, and working speeds.
