As a Resource Teacher I, you will be Responsible for providing programmatic support to practitioners, children, and families enrolled in the center. Assists the Center Director with the implementation of state regulatory guidelines and Head Start/Early Head Start Performance Standards.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Management and Administration Assist the Center Director in ensuring the smooth daily operation of the center Act as a liaison between the Center Director and teachers Share responsibility for opening and closing the center Inform the Center Director of all incidents that occur pertaining to the daily operation of the program Update teachers' bulletin board to highlight upcoming trainings and/or events In the absence of the Center Director, be available to receive current and prospective parents, listen and respond to inquiries, and lead tours of the center Maintain flexibility in schedule to adapt to the needs of the center; may include providing coverage in a classroom to maintain required ratios Classroom Support Collaborate with classroom staff in the development of lesson plans, anecdotal observations, and screeningsObservation:
In partnership with the Director, observe the teachers' interactions within the context of everyday experiences. Focus observation on goals that were set forth during joint planning. Document specific examplesFeedback/Reflection:
Engage in reflective dialogue with teachers. Reflect on the impact on children and the learning that has taken place for children, as well as teachers. Determine if additional supports are needed Health, Safety, and Licensing Assist the Director in ensuring all center guidelines, licensing requirements, health regulations, fire codes, permits, and licenses remain current Follow EHS-CCP Health and Safety policies and procedures In partnership with the Director, ensure all accidents and incidents are documented, and notify parents as necessary Perform a monthly Health and Safety checklist for all classroomsMonitor Checklists:
fridge log, fanny pack log, first aid checklist, volunteer log Center Maintenance Ensure the program provides a clean, safe, child-ready center at all times, with careful thought given to displays and the environment Monitor maintenance of facility, equipment, and supplies Support daily meal distribution, complete daily Meal Counts, and input meal numbers into the USDA report Regularly check supply inventory, request supplies (i.e., diapers and wipes each month), receive a monthly shipment of supplies, and coordinate proper storage Manage laundry operations Professionalism Positively project UWMD's mission, goals, philosophies, and policies to parents, faculty, and the community. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect towards persons of different cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds Acknowledge and respond to faculty, families, and members of the community in a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor Establish and maintain a relationship of cooperation and respect with co-workers, assuming a fair share of work Show initiative and model a professional work ethic Demonstrate knowledge and flexibility in child care practices and continue ongoing professional growth Keep abreast of trends and research in the Early Childcare field Attend all required meetings and trainings UWM is an equal opportunity employer and a drug-free workplace. Education Requirements:
Associate degree required (in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred) and 45 DCF hours/ 15 in-service hours per year. Infant/Toddler CDA. Bilingual preferred.Experience Requirements:
Two or more years of experience working in an early childhood education setting preferred.Technology Requirements:
Knowledge of modern web browsers, Intermediate Word, Beginning Excel, and Beginning Outlook.Other Essential Knowledge/Skills:
Flexibility. Understand concepts around Visible Thinking, Multiple Intelligences, Dual Language, Inclusion, Early Literacy strategies, and Reflective Supervision.Career Growth:
