In this vital role, you will be the cornerstone of accurate medical documentation, billing, and coding processes that ensure seamless reimbursement and compliance. Your expertise will directly impact patient care by maintaining precise records and facilitating efficient revenue cycle management. Duties Review and interpret medical documentation related to wound care procedures and treatments to ensure proper coding using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) systems. Assign appropriate medical codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services to facilitate accurate billing and reimbursement. Prepare and submit clean claims through Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements. Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims, processing medical collections, and resolving billing discrepancies promptly. Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records, ensuring all documentation aligns with legal standards and coding guidelines. Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations, insurance policies, and wound care treatment protocols to ensure ongoing compliance. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and optimize billing accuracy for wound care services. Experience Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting, preferably with a focus on wound care or related specialties. Strong knowledge of DRG classifications, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and ICD coding principles. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for documentation, billing, and coding processes. Excellent understanding of medical terminology related to wound management and treatment procedures. Prior experience handling medical records management, insurance claims processing, and collections. Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately while adhering to regulatory standards. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure error-free billing submissions.
