POSITION OVERVIEW
American Heritage Schools is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Business Competition Coach / Advisor. You will mentor, coach, and guide students across multiple business organizations, with a primary focus on DECA, while providing supplemental administration and coaching for Young Investor Society (YIS), Global Research and Consulting (GRC), National Business Honor Society (NBHS), and Pre-Business Society( PBS). The ideal candidate is a leadership-driven educator or business professional who can navigate the logistics of a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) while inspiring students to achieve elite-level competition results. This role is central to maintaining our twenty-year reputation for excellence in pre-professional academic competitions.PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES I.
Student Coaching & Development Competitive Strategy:
Guide students in selecting competition paths that align with their specific learning goals and career interests.Performance Prep:
Lead comprehensive preparation for competitive testing, role-plays, presentations, case work, and project development.Leadership Mentoring:
Collaborate with student officer teams to implement practice sessions, service events, social activities, and fundraisers.Instructional Excellence:
Ensure a high-quality learning experience by planning and implementing innovative learning tasks; monitor student understanding frequently to ensure mastery.Differentiation:
Modify learning tasks according to student needs and implement accommodations as directed.Culture & Environment:
Foster an inclusive environment that upholds the core values of Knowledge, Integrity, and Compassion; establish routines for a productive physical environment. II.Administration & Operations Logistics Management:
Handle all registrations, form submittals, and item ordering for DECA; coordinate with appropriate staff to process payments.Travel Coordination:
Work closely with the school's Travel Coordinator to ensure the proper planning of all field trips, conferences, and competitions.Student Welfare:
Monitor student behavior to ensure a positive learning environment; maintain standards of discipline in accordance with the student handbook and provide for students' general safety.Reporting:
Prepare progress reports, provide detailed comments as needed, and conduct parent/teacher conferences quarterly. III.Team & Community Integration Professional Communication:
Maintain proactive, high-level communication with parents, principals, academic advisors, and the community regarding club activities.Cross-Campus Engagement:
Regularly travel between the Broward and Palm Beach campuses (approx. 40-minute distance) to ensure program consistency and alignment with Department Directors.Collaborative Planning:
Contribute to team planning and attend staff meetings; engage in Professional Learning Communities for cross-campus collaboration and reflection on instructional practices.Curriculum Contribution:
Actively contribute to the school's curriculum by sharing resources and feedback with colleagues.Professional Growth:
Demonstrate a continuous commitment to professional learning and the promotion of the Business program.QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE DECA
Expertise:
Minimum of 5 years as a DECA Advisor is required. Experience at the State administrative level is a significant plus.Coaching Excellence:
Strong facilitation and editorial skills for written materials and high-stakes presentations.B.A./B.S.
in Education or Business Administration from an accredited institution is preferred An academic or professional background in a business discipline is preferred but not required.SKILLS & ABILITIES
Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to facilitate and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others . Will have strong facilitation and coaching, and editorial skills for written materials and presentations.Ability to utilize educational technologies:
Google/Microsoft Suites, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and educational tools (Kahoot, Quizlet, Formative, etc.). Organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills Willingness to work non-traditional hours for practices/events and travel for school-funded competitions.
