Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract A unique opportunity awaits educators passionate about supporting students who are blind or visually impaired. This part-time contract position centers on empowering school-based staff and enhancing instructional accessibility throughout a district near Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. You'll play a crucial, itinerant role supporting several school sites virtually, making a meaningful impact from anywhere. The position begins August 10, 2026, and runs through May 28, 2027, with a commitment of 12-15 hours per week. This role is designed for a certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired eager to serve as a specialist resource, supplementing existing district services.
Key qualifications:
Valid Florida Educator Certification required Previous experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments (braille instruction, assistive technology, and access accommodations strongly preferred) Ability to navigate virtual instruction environments effectively Strong communication and consultative skills with educators and support staff Must complete fingerprinting (previous FL district prints may be valid via the AHCA Clearinghouse); JLA badge required upon clearance Primary responsibilities: Partner with teachers and staff to build their skills in supporting students with visual impairments, especially at the start of the school year Deliver focused guidance on braille, assistive technologies, and facilitating instructional access Support educators handling more complex student needs Foster consistency in best practices across multiple school sites Adapt and tailor support based on evolving district and staff capacity You'll be instrumental in nurturing confidence and expertise within the local school community, making a lasting impact on both educators and students.
