Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Discover an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to students and school staff as a Virtual Teacher of the Visually Impaired. This part-time, contract position provides specialized expertise throughout an entire school district, supporting the growth and success of students who are blind or visually impaired, while empowering educational teams. With a flexible virtual model and an emphasis on capacity building at the start of the school year, you'll be instrumental in ensuring access and consistency for learners across multiple sites.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Florida Educator Certification required Previous experience supporting students with visual impairments, including braille and assistive technology Familiarity with strategies for instructional access and working collaboratively with educators Strong communication and consulting skills with both school personnel and families Must be able to complete the fingerprinting process, with expedited credentialing for those previously cleared in
Florida Responsibilities:
Consult with and provide direct support to school-based staff regarding student needs, instructional strategies, and accessibility Deliver training and resource development for braille instruction and assistive technology integration Guide staff working with students who have complex visual needs Support consistent implementation of best practices district-wide, supplementing existing TVI services Intensively support capacity-building at the school year's onset, with a gradual taper as staff confidence grows
