Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Empower educators and enhance learning experiences by providing specialized support for visually impaired students across multiple school sites in a leading district. This flexible, contract-based opportunity is ideal for an experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired seeking to make a meaningful impact through a part-time, virtual role. The assignment runs from August 10, 2026, through May 28, 2027, with a commitment of 12-15 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver expert guidance and build capacity among school-based staff, especially in supporting students who are blind or have visual impairments. Offer ongoing consultation in braille instruction, assistive technology, and strategies for instructional access. Partner with teachers managing students with complex support needs, ensuring consistent service across the district. Foster understanding of student needs and support intensive professional development at the start of the school year, gradually tapering assistance as staff confidence grows. Supplement existing district TVIs to maintain continuity in direct service while providing targeted expertise to staff.
Qualifications:
Current Florida Educator Certification is required. Strong background in teaching students with visual impairments, including braille and assistive technology. Experience consulting and collaborating with educational teams is highly valued. Adaptable and proactive in supporting both in-person and remote learning environments. Ability to complete or transfer valid fingerprints for credentialing in accordance with school district requirements.
