Elementary / Middle
School Teacher Position Summary The Elementary / Middle School Teacher is responsible for providing educational leadership and high-quality instruction to students in an elementary or middle school setting. The teacher promotes the school's mission and curriculum while creating a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and personal development of all students. Creative lesson planning, data-driven instruction, and collaborative relationships with students, parents, and staff are essential to this role. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instructional Planning & Teaching Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with school curriculum and educational standards. Use research-based instructional practices and interdisciplinary teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students. Incorporate technology, active learning, collaborative activities, and hands-on instruction into daily lessons. Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles, cultural backgrounds, and student abilities. Utilize formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Maintain accurate and updated gradebooks, student records, and lesson plans. Foster independent learning, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration among students. Organize and supervise educational field trips and related activities. Classroom Environment & Student Management Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning. Promote respect, kindness, fairness, and collaboration among students. Implement effective classroom management strategies and resolve behavioral concerns promptly and professionally. Model and teach problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Ensure the safety and supervision of students at all times. Maintain classroom materials and equipment in a safe and organized manner. Communication & Family Engagement Build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members. Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and academic performance. Respond to parent concerns and inquiries in a timely manner. Participate in parent conferences, open houses, family engagement events, and school functions. Protect the confidentiality and privacy of students and families in compliance with FERPA regulations. Provide timely updates to online grade systems and communication platforms. Professional Responsibilities Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, and ethical conduct at all times. Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, collaborative planning, and school committees. Engage in ongoing self-assessment and continuous improvement of instructional practices. Collaborate effectively with administrators, colleagues, parents, and support staff to support student success. Report to work and assigned duties punctually and prepared. Adhere to school policies, procedures, and professional dress expectations. Additional Duties Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and other assigned activities. Sponsor or assist with after-school clubs, tutoring, coaching, or enrichment programs. Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Strong instructional, organizational, and classroom management skills. Preferred Qualifications Valid Florida Teaching Certificate appropriate for grade level and subject area. Elementary Education and/or Middle Grades Certification preferred. Previous teaching experience in an elementary or middle school setting preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and supervise students throughout the school day. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor school environments. Work Environment School classroom and campus environment with moderate noise levels typical of active educational settings.
